What Is Metaphysics?
The next three issues of Metaphysical Mind will be guest-authored by a man much older than I.
His full name is William R. Bowles and I have been fortunate enough to learn about his journey over the past few months. He goes by the name Bill and he may be referred to as "BB" for short (Bill Bowles) in the following ezines.
BB was born in 1937 in the UK and travelled to South Africa to settle in December 1948. Bill suffers from a disability and his wife of over 48 years recently passed away with Alzheimer’s disease.
Now he finds joy in sharing what he has learnt, through his extensive “spiritual” experience, with others by writing. As such, I will share some of his work with you over the next month and a half.
Firstly we will start with some words on gratitude titled The First or the Last?
Sometimes when an event occurs we do not stop to wonder if it is the beginning or the end of a series. Do we ask ‘is there more to come’ or is this ‘the full stop at the end of the final chapter’?
Immediately another question presents itself; ‘how does one know and learn to tell the difference between the two’?
Perhaps there is an emotional involvement here.
If something good happens then we almost certainly hope that it is the first in a string of pleasant and desirable experiences. If something bad happens then there is no doubt that we earnestly desire that such an occurrence, or it’s like, does not again appear on our personal horizon.
All too often we are prone to take careful note of our difficulties in life and to expect all the blessings to repeat themselves ad infinitum. The result is that we fail to recognise and give thanks for the benefits that are present in our lives.
Let’s learn to say thank you for the good things and also, just as important, to say thank you for survival through the bad things. -- BB
Next are a few simple tips for practicing truth. Although they are easy to understand, your real challenge should be practicing these guidelines for metaphysical progress in your daily life.
The Wisdom
Trust in the power and integrity of the Creator of all life.
Look with love and compassion on all of His creation.
Satisfy the needs of others before your own.
Give of all that you receive without any thought of your personal needs or desires.
Whatever you give of a material or spiritual nature, do not desire or expect any acknowledgement or recompense.
Never stand in judgment of word, action or appearance.
Listen without interruption to the opinions of others.
Wait until you are asked, before expressing your own opinion.
Be satisfied with what you have.
Accept what is offered judiciously and always with thanks.
If you live by these principles you will be blessed. -- BB
Finally we will end with a metaphysical quote intended to inspire you to live without fear:
Embrace the knowledge that even as you are part of all that is, so are you also the ultimate expression of the desire of such an entity. As you exist so does the entirety of creation, complete without fault. It is only the greed of man that seeks to change, to improve upon and that only for his own benefit. Consider the life cycle of a flower. It germinates and grows, then blooms and creates seed which ultimately begins the cycle again, not as a repetition, but as a continuum.-- BB
Hope you enjoyed this issue and look forward to the next one!
