Daily practice for all round healing

Hi!

This post will go through a list of actions which you can do to make yourself a much more healthy, aware, relaxed, easy-going, loving person.

Step one: Take a short walk to a quiet area, probably surrounded by nature. If you are not near a natural area, or it is not a nice day -- maybe just stay in your living room, or a quiet room somewhere in your house.

Step two: Sit down and relax, to steady your breathing. Maybe practice deep steady breaths, or alternate nostril breathing, to clear out your lungs.

Step three: Do a short yoga exercise, a example is salute to the sun;

Repeat this exercise until you feel relaxed, but not tiered.

Step four: Fill your chakras with energy, generally using Reiki, or another form of energy sharing; like Ethereal Crystals.

(You may want to call your spiritual guides/angels/archangels, to help with your healings.)

Step five: Ground, to relieve yourself of all negative energies.

Step six: Meditate for 10 - 15 minutes. I suggest a simple Chakra meditation, or Zen meditation, practiced in Zen Buddhism.

If you feel stiff between any of these steps, do a few stretches. Like stretching your spine or spinning your arms gentle around in their sockets.

Do this exercise daily, and make sure you have plenty of fresh air around you, so maybe if you are inside, open a window?

 Love & light,

Solomon Azulay.

Namaste.

Paris, City of Light, really is a tale of two cities. One of them is above ground, with its beloved Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. That's the city the world sees. And then there's the city very few us will ever see -- an underground Paris, the 'souterrain.' NPR's Jacki Lyden and National Geographic photographer Stephen Alvarez teamed up to see what lies below. A new monumental moment is approaching as the newest Martian rover closes in on its journey towards the Red Planet. Curiosity has been trekking through space since last November, and will be completing its 352-million-mile journey on August 5, 10:31 Pacific time. This Sunday, redOrbit will be bringing you live coverage of the event, nicknamed "seven minutes of terror," from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. Bringing the Mars Science Laboratory safely into the Martian atmosphere, and landing Curiosity onto its surface is not a simple task. NASA has acknowledged the difficulty its engineers will be facing this Sunday, by making one of the most complicated landings in the space agency's history from over 300 million miles away.

MSL launched aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket on November 26 at 10:02 a.m. eastern time from Cape Canaveral last year. Since then, it has been making its way through space at nearly 13,000 mph. During NASA's "seven minutes of terror" in trying to land the rover safely on Mars, engineers must bring the 13,000 mph spacecraft down to 1.7 mph before reaching the surface to ensure Curiosity lands in one piece. The car-sized rover will be landing beside a Martian mountain in Gale Crater to begin a two year mission of scientific work, helping to uncover whether the area has ever had a suitable environment to support life. In order to reach its landing spot, Curiosity will be flying like a wing in the upper atmosphere of Mars, instead of dropping down lie a rock and utilizing the airbag method.

At about seven miles above the surface of the planet, and at a velocity of 900 mph, MSL will deploy a parachute to slow down the descent even more. The spacecraft will be riding down towards the surface for about another six miles before reaching 180 mph. At this stage, curiosity will be released, and the "sky crane" method will be initiated. Mission engineers designed a "sky crane" method for the final several seconds of the flight. During this journey towards the surface, a backpack with retrorockets controlling the descent speed will lower the rover on three nylon cords just before touchdown. NASA said 76 pyrotechnic devices must fire on time during the descent to get Curiosity to the surface.

Advocate

The voice of a child cries out and the whole world reverberates with guilt. Who will be an advocate for a child who is abused, who is treated like a useless rag doll, to fulfil a cruel man's sick fantasies?

Advocate
© Elizabeth J. Barringer

Mom is passed out, too much beer at the bar,
I lay sleeping, until my bedroom door is ajar.
I hear his feet shuffle the carpet across the floor,
My heart starts pounding, How far is the door?

Should I make a run for it, or lay silent and be still,
How can this man I call Dad, force me, against my will?

I'm only a child, not more than seven,
Already I'm praying, Please God, take me to heaven.

I try to scream but the words won't come out,
It really doesn't matter, nobody hears me shout.

His breath smells like cigarettes and foul whiskey,
I'm just hoping he will die, or soon let me be.

Finally, it's over, I know he must be through
Now he's sleeping with mom, one drunk times two.

I lay awake for the longest time, pondering many a thought,
Hoping someone will believe me, and these two animals, get caught.

What is the end result of this dysfunctional family?

Will you be the voice that tells or just leave it be?

Thank You Daughter

Thank You Daughter

© Robert Mayfield

Thank you daughter for the gift you gave to me
A happier grandfather there never will be

This beautiful little girl, so tiny, so small
Brought joy to my life, smiles to us all.

I see you in her face and her eye's so blue
This little girl is a carbon copy of you

And just like you, she will grow O so fast
These precious moments you know wont last

Cherish every second, every minute, every day
You'll be astounded by how fast time fly's away

I know a wonderful mother you will surely be
As wonderful as the daughter you have been to me

There are no words on earth or up above
That for you and Keelin can express my Love

A Poem For Mom

You are the sunlight in my day,
You are the moon I see far away.

You are the tree I lean upon,
You are the one that makes troubles be gone.

You are the one who taught me life,
How not to fight, and what is right.

You are the words inside my song,
You are my love, my life, my mom.

You are the one who cares for me,
You are the eyes that help me see.

You are the one who knows me best,
When it's time to have fun and time to rest.

You are the one who has helped me to dream,
You hear my heart and you hear my screams.

Afraid of life but looking for love,
I'm blessed for God sent you from above.

You are my friend, my heart, and my soul
You are the greatest friend I know.

You are the words inside my song,
You are my love, my life, my Mom.

Never Unsaid

If something should ever happen to me, my love for my son should never go unsaid.

Never Unsaid
© Valerie Capasso

I never want this to go unsaid,
So here in this poem, is for it to be said.

There are no words to express how much you mean to me,
A son like you, I thought could never be.

Because the day you were born, I just knew,
God sent me a blessing- and that was you.

For this I thank Him everyday,
You are the true definition of a son, in everyway.

It is because of you that my life has meaning,
Becoming a mom has shown me a new sense of being.

I want you to know that you were the purpose of my life,
Out of everything I did- it was you that I did right.

Always remember that I know how much you care,
I can tell by the relationship that we share.

For a son like you there could be no other,
And whether we are together or apart,

Please do not ever forget-
You will always have a piece of my heart.

Questions, Through The Eyes Of A 6 Year Old Boy

A child's innocence is shattered when his daddy leaves.

Questions, Through The Eyes Of A 6 Year Old Boy
© Adam T. Cumberbatch

Can you tuck me into bed mama?

Don't forget to kiss me goodnight.

Can you tell me a story mama,
Before you turn out the lights?

Can you kiss my forehead mama,
Like you used to do before?

Can you at least tell me you love me mama,
Before you close the bedroom door?

Why don't you wanna talk to me mama?

I miss the sound of your voice.

Mama, can you please say somethin'?

I guess if you don't, it's your choice.

But mama, I have to tell you somethin'...

Even though you're quiet mama,
I know what you're goin' through.

I understand why you cry now mama,
Cause I'm hurtin' too.

Why'd you have to leave us daddy?

I still had some growin' up to do.

Did we somehow make you mad daddy?

Or, were we not good enough for you?

Do you know that mama cries at night daddy?
I think it's cause she sleeps alone.

Daddy, can you please call the house tonight,
Cause mama is waitin' by the phone.

You know mama still loves you daddy?

But I hate you for what you done.

you put tears in mama's eyes, daddy.

And in the eyes of YOUR son.

I thought you said you'd never leave daddy?

You said we'd be pals, you and me.

But, you broke your promise daddy,
Like you broke this family.

American Soldiers

I am 35 years old, born and raised in TYLER, TEXAS. My one dream of a lifetime would to be able to get published. So far I don't have anything ,but a quitter never got anything either.

American Soldiers
© Cynthia Barton

Everyday more soldiers have to leave
to fight this war so we can be free.

they pack light to set out on their way
praying the war will end some day.

we have lost young and lost old
but all of those men were so strong and bold
In reality it doesn't seem to fair
but when at war there is no time to care.

once in a while they may get a letter
from loved ones at home feeling a little bit better
They let them know they miss them so
but no time to cry the men must go.

They fold their letters up real tight
Putting them away for another lonely night.

slowly they rise to take their stand
as each American soldier salutes with right hand.

They yell that they will be home soon
but tonight their going to sleep with the moon
but not alone they have one another
To an American soldier those men are his brothers.

Each and everything they do
Is without a doubt for me and for you.

honestly, how many sit and pray
for each and every soldier on the field that day?

They don't draw names to see who they protect
So why need a face to match the respect?

They don't get hot home cooked meals
and I bet they would love a steak from the grill.

They are American Soldiers standing tall and proud
They deserve our respect, don't be ashamed ,scream it out loud.

but at times, a soldier has no choice but to sleep
with those words I will close for now.

Saying as I go GOD BLESS AND REST IN PEACE

Great Contemporary Street Art with 6 Artist Names Selected from Around The World

Posted on January 24, 2012 by Megha

The art of street art was born in 1942 and has rapidly evolved with each decade. New variety of forms of street art has been seen at times superior to sweep all that had been created before. In street art every detail, shadow, color, line. The artist creates a stylized logo – a “unique character” and portrays it in the areas of the urban landscape. The most important thing in street-art is there is no assigned territory, to draw the viewer into a dialogue and show a different scene. We offer 6 to view the great artists of contemporary street art.

Appearing at night, and by drawing on what is necessary, this semi-mythical man became a legend and has gained great popularity among contemporary art lovers. His pictures are cut out along the walls of houses and sold out in auction for hundreds and thousands of dollars. But about the man himself nobody knows anything, For the authorities in London he was a criminal, but for lovers of contemporary art he is a genius.

1. “Naked.”
This picture is located on the front of the Bristol Hospital on Park Street, where patients are treated for sexual disorders. After numerous requests from the public, Bristol City Council decided not to paint it with graffiti.

2. “Over the wall.”
Project “The Wall” included a virtual reality that emphasizes the denial of the existence of mankind, which is a fence – the children cut off from the sea and forced to play with buckets and spades on a heap of stones, but this time behind the wall …

3. “I remember when there were trees.”

4. “Picnic.”
The exhibition Banksy, which was held in Los Angeles in 2006, Angelina Jolie has bought three works by the artist for 400 thousand dollars. Among the acquisitions was the picture of “Picnic”, worth 226 thousand dollars.

5. “A man cleaning graffiti from the wall.”
This picture appeared in the May 2008 street Lick Street in London. By August 2008 it was graffiti painted over. Please note – pictures of animals resemble prehistoric cave paintings of Lascaux cave people in France or Altamira in Spain.

Vhils

Work of Portuguese artist Alexander Fart simply breathtaking. They are elegant and expressive. From the side it is difficult to even suggest that his painting were made by scratching the wall surface. Alexander uses the canvas as a deserted house. His incredible work of art made available to the public masses, adorn the city and impress the minds of passers-by.

6. Vhils visited Moscow and left a house in his “Autograph“.

7. The motto of the author is destroying, you will create. So – tear, scrap, scratch – you’re doing art.

8. Time to create a portrait depends on the height of the wall. Creating a portrait on the wall, two-story building will take the author’s day.

9. It would seems kind of art, the artist selected, looks nice on the street, but it is unthinkable in art shops and galleries. But Alexander Fart manages to do, and exhibition of his paintings options, using the old doors, walls, billboards, fences.

Mark Jenkins

American painter who is known for his street installations, created from the packing tape. Mark Jenkins’ work were reported in several publications, including Time, The Washington Post, Reuters, The Independent and a blog dedicated to street-art, Wooster Collective. He also exhibited in galleries in the U.S., Europe, Japan and Brazil, represented by a number of galleries, including the Lazarides Gallery in London. The artist created a website tapesculpture.org with steps of making sculptures from the film, and also conducts master classes in the cities that he visits.

10. “I do not know – I’m an artist or not, but I like the psychological impact that my work is performed on people.”

11. “A newspaper man.”

12. According to Jenkins, his work encourages bystanders to comprehend the essence of the universe, starting from what they see. Jenkins like the reaction of people to write to the video.

13. Projects Jenkins inspired others to create a Scottish culture everywhere.

the American street artist, born in the early 1980s in California. He grew up in a family of hippies from childhood he is fond of drawing, and later, skateboarding. In 1995, he began to paint freight trains, and later gained fame for his stencil and the inscriptions on the political and social issues.

14. “Give the poor.”
Graffiti in Lisbon, drawn due to the increase of homeless people in Portugal.

15. “First Love”.
California, 2009.

16. “Cleaner leaves.”

17. “Become the above fears.”

Roa

Peter ROA – Belgian painter of street art, which draws around the world, black and white animals: rats, rabbits, birds, dead and half dead, often with eerie anatomical details. According to Peter, he can draw anything, and draws animals, simply because he like it the most.

On odd jobs from a couple of hours he take only two or three sleepless nights.

18. ROA travels a lot. During his travels he draws animals in countries where he went. His melancholy character strongly affects the majority of the works. So his works can be traced by strict graphic quality, dark colors and contrasts of death.

19. “Giraffe”.
Africa, 2011.

20. ROA work in Moscow.

Mentalgassi

Art collective Mentalgassi, many street artists try to transform the urban space, giving new meaning to the surrounding objects. Distinguished work of their “colleagues” on the art of the fact that they are not located on the walls or bus stops, and on fences.

21. “Making the invisible to be seen.” Mentalgass pointed to the plight of Troy Davis, a 42-year-old man who is in death row in the United States.

22. “Girl on the grid.”

23. “An expression of protest.”

24. “An expression of protest.”

Street Art, no doubt, has its own philosophy and is popular all over the world, which testifies to its aesthetic value and assigns it to a form of progressive, vibrant art, and not manifestations of bad manners. After all, the great art of street artists make visible to others what is generally considered part of the gray area of the streets.

6 Herbs for the Mind

6 Herbs for the Mind
posted by Michelle Schoffro Cook

When it comes to brain health and mental acuity, few people think of herbs. While Mother Nature’s herbal medicines humbly lay upon the earth in her rainforests, wilderness, and jungles devoid of any slick advertising campaigns, they show tremendous promise in the prevention of brain disease and in maintaining great brain health.

Remember: herbs are potent medicine so it is important to consult with your doctor before you start taking any herbs to prevent drug-herb interactions.

1. A Wise Sage

More than just seasoning for stuffing a turkey, recent research shows that sage is great brain food. A British research team conducted a study of sage’s therapeutic properties on a group of forty-four adults between the ages of eighteen and thirty-seven. Some participants were given capsules of sage oil while others were given a placebo of sunflower oil. Results showed that those who took the sage oil performed significantly better at memory tests than those who took the placebo. The people who were given sage as part of the study had improvements in both immediate and delayed word recall scores, as well as mood improvements. Additional research by the same scientific team led them to conclude that sage may also be helpful for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Fresh sage is an excellent addition to soups, stews, and chicken dishes.

2. The Curry Factor

Here’s another reason to enjoy your favorite Indian curry dishes: they typically contain the spice turmeric, a powerful food that helps protect your brain from disease. Research conducted by Greg Cole, PhD, associate director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the University of California in Los Angeles, showed that, curcumin, the yellow pigment in turmeric, is a potent weapon against inflammation and plaque build up in the brain. Inflammation and plaque have been linked to serious brain diseases like Alzheimer’s. Additional studies are having similar positive results. The easiest way to enjoy the benefits of curcumin is by adding turmeric to your favorite curry dish.

3. Ginger—Nature’s Anti-Inflammatory

Not just great in stir-fries, ginger is one herb that can do more than add flavor and spice to just about any dish, it also exhibits antioxidant effects and the ability to lessen the formation of inflammation in the brain. Ginger contains potent anti-inflammatory compounds called “gingerols” that are responsible for the herb’s magic. A study in the November 2003 issue of Life Sciences found that ginger offers protection against free radicals, which have the potential to be a serious threat to brain health.

The easiest way to enjoy the benefits of ginger is to grate 2 tablespoons of fresh ginger and add to a cup of boiling water. Steep and strain. Enjoy a cup of this warming ginger tea with a touch of honey or a few drops of the naturally-sweet herb, stevia. You can also add freshly grated ginger to soups, stir-fries, vegetables, or other dishes to pack extra brain health into your meals.

4. Ginkgo Biloba to Boost Brain Power

Ginkgo biloba has developed a reputation as the brain herb thanks to its many beneficial effects on the brain, including: increasing blood flow to the brain, assisting with memory and in the treatment of dementia, as well as positive effects on depression. Ginkgo also helps improve the availability of energy to brain cells, which may improve feelings of mental alertness.

In Germany, ginkgo is approved as a treatment for Alzheimer’s. A study of forty patients with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease, showed that 240 milligrams of ginkgo biloba extract taken daily for three months produced noticeable improvements in memory, mood, and attention. Since then numerous other studies have shown similar positive effects on early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.

Opt for ginkgo biloba standardized extract that contains twenty-four percent ginkgoflavonglycosides, also called “flavone glycosides,” the active ingredient which has the capacity to increase blood flow to the brain and lessen symptoms like depression, memory loss, and dizziness, all of which can be the result of reduced blood flow to the brain. For ginkgo’s preventive effects, forty milligrams three times a day is ideal.

5. Periwinkle: The Blue Flower for Grey Matter

Not just for English gardens anymore, the lovely blue flowering plant, periwinkle may help boost memory. Research shows that vinpocetine, a natural compound in periwinkle, helps transport oxygen and glucose to the brain. Since the brain needs both to function optimally, periwinkle may be beneficial for assisting to ease brain disease.

With around one hundred studies conducted on vinpocetine’s effects on humans, mostly in Hungary, it is not surprising that it has been used by Hungarian doctors to treat senility and blood vessel disorders in the brain for twenty-five years. In these studies it appears to boost memory and cognition in healthy people and in those with mild to moderate forms of dementia.

A double-blind study in 1985 in the European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, researchers tested vinpocetine’s effect on the short-term memory of twelve healthy women. The women who took forty milligrams of vinpocetine three times per day for two days scored thirty percent higher on short-term memory tests than the women in the placebo group.

Vinpocetine also thins blood, boosts circulation to the brain, and improves the brain’s ability to absorb nutrients, all of which improve brain function. Experts typically suggest dosages of two milligrams daily, taken with food. Vinpocetine appears to be safe for short- or long-term use. Check with your doctor if you are taking blood-thinning medications.

6. Rosemary to Increase Brain Circulation

This pine-like herb does more than just spice up a roast of beef, it offers anti-inflammatory protection to the delicate human brain. Research proves rosemary’s ability to increase blood flow to the head and brain, thereby improving concentration.

Historically, herbalists have used rosemary to strengthen memory. In England, rosemary’s memory strengthening ability was translated to mean that it would improve fidelity. As a result it was often given as a gift for the bride or groom as part of their wedding ceremony. Perhaps the gift-giver thought the herb would help the newlywed remember his or her vows.

Add rosemary to meat dishes or chop finely and add to bread, buns, or savory baked goods. There’s nothing as yummy as a still warm, freshly baked rosemary scone with tea.

Boosting your mental acuity and brain power can be as easy as eating Indian curries, rosemary biscuits, and drinking fresh ginger tea. Or supplement with ginkgo and vinpocetine to improve your brain health.
