How about this incredible scene

How about this incredible scene

If you thought Britain was cold how about this incredible scene? The picture shows a warehouse that was encased in ice after water used to put out a blazing inferno froze in Chicago. The city has been suffering from bitterly cold weather, making it difficult for firefighters. The sub-zero temperatures can seal shut fire hydrants, weigh down buildings and firefighters and make the ground treacherous with ice (Reuters)

  • I have been in Chicago in December and we had 12 feet of snow. I love the place but we picked a bad year, it was -41 degrees wind factor. First time since a child thatbI had to wear a scarf around my nose and mouth so I could breath. I had thick tights socks and jeans on, a full length fur collard coat (fake fur, that is). Boots, hat scarf, and gloves, and the wind still took the skin off my legs through all that. The lake Mitchegan was frozen solid, it's also massive like a sea. It was a real eye opener, because everything was still up and running. As you know, if its here everything stops for just a flutter of snow. We had no problems getting round in it. The view from our hotel was looking straight up the river with all the bridges across, a bit like London Thames, but small in width. It was also the place where about 40 geese flew straight past our window which was wall to wall and the size of the room. It was such a beautiful moment. They were flying in formation through the high buildings. I think we were about 33 floors up, so it was one of those moments of being in the right place at the right moment. It was also dusk and all the lights from the river roads and bridges were all on. Wonderful. Well I think I had a moment there, hahaha.
