  One you are able to honor and show mercy to ALL the parts of yourself- you will begin to see more and more flow of blessings.
  Know ye not that you are a blessing, a light and a jewel of incomparable value?
  
  Accept that you are beloved...every being of light adores you!
  
  Why even the more "mischievous energies" admire you for holding your own in this physical plane.
  
  If the whole universe adores you...they must know something that you don't. Just how precious every part of your being is.

  Allow yourself to show love to that part of yourself you have tried so hard to 'get rid of'.

  you answered your own question, forgiving "them" is forgiving that part of "you" called the shadow side. The shadow side is connected with the subconscious, the place where we all store that which we do not enjoy or cannot process. We all have shadow sides and facing the shadow side allows for deep healing to take place.
