Record high temperatures are being forecast for large swaths of the United States in what meteorologists are calling an ‘Indian summer.’
The warmer temperatures are due to an area of high pressure off the Eastern seaboard as well as the jet stream’s northward movement to the Upper Midwest and Canada, according to The Weather Channel.
The effects of the change were most palpable in Amarillo, Texas, where temperatures hit 95 degrees.
