Researchers believe the north half of the US is at a higher risk of flooding
They compared data from streams and satellites to uncover the threat
It's because there has been an increase in the amount of water in the ground
However, the opposite has happened in West, South and Southwest regions
The amount of ground water declined, putting them at a lower risk of flooding
