Question? Is sending love and light to someone who is Dark a violation of their free will? Would this be considered a psychic attack on them? Does this energetic exchange create a karmic debt that must be resolved?
Answer: Sending love and light is an act of loving kindness within the Buddhist tradition (and others). The act itself is initially focused on individuals within our circle of acquaintance, yet ultimately expands to all creation. Ideally if our intention is true and pure it should begin with all of creation since we are all one. With that in mind there is no person who is Dark, it is only our perception of them and there is only someone who has yet to realize their own unity with creation. Love only knows giving. It does not expect any return so is therefore an act of no-karma.

I agree when you say "then it's a form of attack.." because they can not stand Infinite Love. The best way to deal with "dark" is to send Infinite Love from your True Heart to their True Heart until it becomes only Infinite Love.
But I disagree about " With that in mind there is no person who is Dark, it is only our perception of them and there is only someone who has yet to realize their own unity with creation." When I mastery Reiki in 2003 I had the same perspective, until I saw the "real world".
By the way, my experience on it not only remains 2003, I served AA Michael with 13 years old with 2 more friends, and we had a perspective of what was happening in 4th dimension...
But yes, the answer is Infinite Love, and Love the Dark ones.

What do you want to know exactly?
We can always send love and light and ask that when their higher self is ready, that it will be there for them. We have all probably been "dark ones" at some time or another in our past lives, as some times we have played this role to help others learn a lesson or to learn one ourselves. I would hope that in my past lives, perhaps when I played a "darker" role, that someone would have been kind enough and loving enough to send some healing, loving light my way. <3
But sending love and a desire for the unfolding of the person's 'highest good' is not manipulation or attack.
Even better, heal the part of yourself that manifests in the world as that peron's 'darkness.' Google Ho'oponopono
