  Hi Julian

  I agree with you. I am sure you have read about what is termed The Dark Night of the Soul.  Paul Brunton wrote on this very movingly..... for the majority of people who seek to travel upon the spiritual path, after the initial highs and insights and feelings of being in contact with guides, teachers and spirit.... this gets taken away and the seeker of spiritual truths feels lost and alone... leading to the term The Dark Night Of The Soul.

   

  I did purchase a book of this title, but it was not as good as the late Paul Brunton's notes in one of his many books.

   

  I would say my own example, after what seemed prolific communications and happenings with and through spirit... all of a sudden everything seemed to stop.. and one did indeed feel cut off, although of course being aware I was not,

   

  Much development goes on during the sleep and astral travel experiences, and that kept me going.

   

  Now I feel recharged I would say again, better and stronger, and do not feel cut off as it were!

   

  The Dark Night Of The Soul is also to make the spiritual seeker aware, that without spirit it can do nothing...life is as a blank page through which no feeling of inspiration comes.... till it is over, then what joy.
