Dear Friends,
Since Earth Day is also my birthday, and since her elements form the content of the art we make, I feel a strong affinity with this holiday. Wikipedia tells us it is the most celebrated secular holiday in the world, with 192 countries participating. We all know that our world faces profound emergent ecological and bio-cultural challenges. For me, the calling is to find and embrace a balance of outer activism and soul-powered evolutionary transformation.
When I realized that this was the 45th Earth Day, I calculated that the original celebration was on the day that I turned 21. I was minted an adult on the same day this new focus on the Earth was born. Perhaps this accounts for some of my deep sense of wanting to nurture the living planet.
Visions of Gaia's Grace
In the vein of celebrating by engaging with growing things, we are sharing a video, Visions of Gaia’s Grace, that David and I assembled a couple of years ago in honor of this day. We hope you will enjoy it for the first time, or again. Watching it reminded me instantly of how precious this Earth is.
For all of us, in some sense, Earth’s special day is our birthday. Our bodies are woven of her atomic fabric, replenished with her foodstuffs, inspired by her beauty. Likewise, we are wounded when she is and made vulnerable by the adverse intrusion we continue to make on her living environments. However we celebrate today, whether it be active outwardly or active in the deepest contemplative sense, let’s shower our planet with love.
We create these videos as a means for many people to connect with the uplifting visual and vibrational energies of the living Earth and to send those blessings out to the whole world.
