Grounding Yourself: The Feet Chakras
“…to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the path of peace”
~Luke 1:79
Along with our system of seven main physical Chakras, we have a web of auxiliary energy centers, or lesser chakras, that provide a wide spectrum of energy influx into our system. They are often ignored and neglected. One of them is the system of chakras for the feet. Located on the base, or sole, of our feet; it has as a primordial purpose the discharge the “electrical” streams generated as an consequence of the normal activities and functions of the physical body.
These small, but important, chakra vortexes can be found on the sole of each foot and they work in combination with the Muladhara Chakra or base chakra, along with other minor chakras in the legs to create a stable lattice foundation for our physical existence. When they function harmonically, the Feet Chakras ensure a constant flow of communication and connection with the energy grids of the Earth to the rest of the chakras on our physical and extra-physical bodies.
They were also designed to facilitate the balancing and assimilation of the Kundalini energy that comes from Earth and its magnetic currents. These energy points act as energy transformers; regulating the intensity and quantity of these energy flows as well as whether or not they should and should not enter our physical energetic environment.
As a general rule of thumb, the more spiritually-inclined a person is, the more they will have the energetic centers in their bodies responding to energy shifts in an easier way than someone who is merely concerned with their own materialistic reality. The expansion and amplification of the energy centers is directly interrelated with the expansion of consciousness of the individual and their discerning capability to apprehend the understanding of the multi-dimensionality of life, planes of existence and the interconnectedness of all.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
~Psalm 119:105
From a shamanic perspective, it is believed that below the soles of our feet resides what shamans call the auric chrysalis. From these centers, we receive the energy of Mother Earth as a tree receives nourishment from its roots connected to the soil. At the other physical pole of our bodies, above the crown chakra, we find the auric dome of our energetic system. This closed energy scheme in its turn connects and interacts with the Earthly auric fields.
Each foot holds a vortex on the center of arch. They tend to be smaller than the other normal chakras of the body, usually varying between 5 to 7 centimeters of diameter when fully opened. This chakra does not have a specific color, but normally they present themselves in tones of earth colors, such as brown, and with reddish hues, as they are directly connected with the energy of the first Chakra.
“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
~ Psalm 40:2
As the hand chakras, the foot chakras are also very expressive and receptive; during grounding exercises, they facilitate the channeling of the Earth energies. The health the feet is not only related to the ability to stay in the physical body, but to the capability of it. The health of the foot chakra is directly related to our ability to not only to become grounded inside of the physical body while, at the same time, to manifest the spiritual skill of being an anchor of Light, with the multidimensional ability to actively interact with the world at large, in real time, while being a “point of sacrificial fire” for your Higher Self.
The capability to be anchored shows an integrated ability to harmonize your spirit and body tunefully, and it is an important skill to develop in the path of self-awareness and self-realization.
“The Feet have a vital psychological importance in our lives, because they represent our contact with our immediate reality, the ground, the law of gravity; physically, the lack of balance on the feet, affects the harmony and performance of our whole structure.”
~W. Zchutz
In terms of initiation, according to ancient traditions, the feet are the very last before one can graduate in various schools of wisdom, because they are related to the 12th initiation. Symbolically, the 12th initiation is associated to the 12th sign of Pisces. It is no surprise to notice that the feet are the part of the physical body that relate to the last sign of the Zodiac wheel. It is not a surprise to connect the dots and realize that the symbol of the Christian era is the Fish. It signifies that everyone that accomplishes the trials required by this last stage is able to stand on their own two feet as a completely self-realized Human being.
It is said that during the last supper, Christ Jesus performed the ceremony known as the washing of the feet for his apostles. This is one of the more significant gestures of love and devotion from a master to his disciples: the last of the Christic Initiation.
The feet chakras are no common energy centers. They relate not only to the energies of grounding and manifesting of our live purposes, but they also retain the memories of the many paths our soul has trailed on earth and beyond through our previous life times.
Description of External Points for the Feet Chakras
The foot chakra is an energy vortex that extends downward from the sole of the foot and correspondingly is mirrored and extends upward from the top of the foot.
The Right Foot:
“I will keep you in the right path”
Point1. Out top-outward direction: express the collection of energies accumulated through “questionable acts to others” in this life time.
Point 2. Out top inward direction: the reservoir or storehouse of all questionable deeds towards others we have accrued during past lives due to stared rages against others that stepped on us.
The right foot is also responsible for the ability to perform astral travels and to insure good restful sleep.
“…For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.”
~Psalm 56:13
Energy work on the right foot can release past samskaras, which are holographic memories of karmic deeds already learned, and open us to do towards others in an unconditional and unattached way. All the accumulated energies in the right foot are the result of struggle for influence, power and dominance: the real concept of stepping upon others. The accurate meaning of this chakra is to not allow people to step on us. It should be a protector chakra, but we as humans tend to overdo things and get caught up in the energy of egoic revenge. In other words, our inherent predisposition for taking wrong action against others for indulgence of Self. The energetic polarities of this foot are mostly male.
The Left Foot:
“I will keep you on the ascension path, so you may absorb again failed lessons”
The left foot stores mainly a feminine type of energy; playful, nurturing and encouraging. It retains the registries of all your accomplishments and realizations, the life lessons and plethora of experiences of your soul that were learned and incorporated in your life theme, your energetic blueprint. It expresses the joy of accomplishments and the positive influence on all the lives one has touched. This is your balance point of our personal free will choices. It is a point where actively we can experience the karmic balance as an outcome of our past experiences in lifetimes.
Point1. Left foot out top –outward direction. Expression of the energy gathered through lifetimes lived under the sphere of the Oversoul.
Point2. Left foot out top – inward direction. Contains the essence of a joyful being that is creating one’s future incarnations, which are susceptible to adjustments up until they are brought into play in the right divine time.
Point3. Left foot under the sole – outward direction. Vortex where the karma of past lifetimes balances itself.
Point4. Left foot under the sole – inward direction. Energetic point that stores constructive memories from lifetimes where lessons were actively learned and had a positive outcome, even when the experiences where not easy.
